Be strong and Courageous

At Family of Faith, our deepest desire is to experience God’s grace through the love of Christ that brings forth healing, wholeness and hope to all God’s children.

Greetings and welcome to Family of Faith United Methodist Church, located in the heart of Akron, Ohio!

We invite you to join us in a spiritual journey that is exciting and relevant as we grow closer to God
through various ministries, missions, scriptural studies and engaging, Spirit-filled worship.

Whether you prefer a traditional style of worship or a more contemporary expression of your faith, our services provide an atmosphere of joyous celebration mixed with reverent recognition of the power and majesty of God in our lives.

Most importantly, Family of Faith places a strong emphasis on being ambassadors of God’s love and grace to everyone.

Blessings,
Rev. Ron Shultz

Ministries

A spirited and inviting group that strives to enhance the Traditional Worship service through music. We practice on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm during the school year. We sing at the 9:15 am service and take the summers off. Many of us provide special music during the summer months. We’d love you to join the fellowship and fun!

A social group of people 55 and older (younger if you care to join us) that meets for fellowship April through November.

This committee does a variety of things throughout the church to take care of our members, from TLC funeral dinners to coordinating communion for our shut-ins to our annual church-wide All Church Birthday party. Love taking care of people and planning events? This committee is for you.

Have a gift of music and like to sing or play Contemporary Christian music? We’re always looking for more musicians to help us praise God for our 11:15 a.m. Contemporary service.

Do you love to knit or crochet or want to learn? We provide shawls and men’s lap robes for people in need of healthy comfort and/or support.

Inspire Ministries is focused on the spiritual growth and development of adults with kids still at home. This means that Inspire serves a broad range of individuals: grandparents helping to care for grandchildren, young people who are caring for youth in foster care, and parents who have kids from infants to college. If you want to learn more about how to apply the Bible to your everyday life, in a group without judgment, full of love and laughter, and keeping it real, Inspire is for you! Join us in Sunday School at 10:15 and at the 11:15 service!

Family of Faith's youth group is for teens in grades 7-12.

Our Youth Group is a place for teens to fellowship with other young Christians and grow in their love of God. We are heavily mission-based and go on a yearly weeklong Mission Trip out of state, where we spend the week serving as the hands and feet of Jesus while fellowshipping with other Youth Groups from around the country.

We also do local mission projects and of course, have fun!

Missions

A women’s group that offers supportive fellowship and participation in global ministries. Come join one of our small groups, called Circles, to make some lifelong friends.

At Family of Faith, we take Jesus’ command to “feed my sheep” seriously.

One way we live this out is through our annual God’s Sheep Community Christmas Dinner. This offers a unique opportunity to engage the less fortunate of our community.

Alcoholics Anonymous

Family of Faith houses an AA group, which meets weekly and is open to the public. The group meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:00pm.

Faith Development

At Family of Faith, an emphasis is placed on continually striving to deepen our relationship with God. As a result, we offer several opportunities for faith development through such avenues as scripture studies and Sunday morning faith development classes, as well as various mission and ministry opportunities.

Free Lunch Program

For over 28 years, volunteers at our church have been serving free meals the last two Wednesdays of every month. The meals are served from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. It is open to everyone and held in the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Masters Crafters

Master’s Crafters is a fun-loving, dedicated group of people who gather on a regular basis to create beautiful shawls and men’s lap robes for people in need as a ministry of comfort and support.

Neighborhood Ministry

Just as Christ’s ministry was one of engaging people in the midst of their daily lives, Family of Faith works to be involved in the lives of our neighbors through ministries like National Night Out Against Crime, Free Lunches, God’s Sheep Community Christmas Dinner, Open-M, Lighthouse of Hope and the University Park Alliance.

Neighborhood Network of University Park (NNUP)

Family of Faith takes a leading role in the Neighborhood Network of University Park (NNUP). NNUP is grass roots community organization whose mission is to build a unified voice to renew the University Park community which is roughly a 50 block area surrounding the University of Akron. We do this by advocating on behalf of the community with government officials on important issues as well as creating place-making opportunities such as community concerts, flea markets and more which help develop as sense of community identity and pride.
