Worship Leader Position
Progressive church seeks dynamic and experienced worship leader for their contemporary service. The worship leader will be responsible for selecting songs each week, in consultation with the pastor, and leading the service with a volunteer praise band. Sunday service and weekly rehearsal is required. A guitar player with some experience is preferred.

band. Sunday service and weekly rehearsal is required. Guitar player with some
experience is preferred. The worship leader should also be able to work within a loosely
structured worship environment that is led by the moving of the Holy Spirit. A child
protection background check is required as a condition of employment.
The successful candidate will:
● Speak and pray extemporaneously within the worship setting
● Work with and lead a praise band
● Keep up with current contemporary worship trends and songs
● Teach new worship material to the praise band
● Be available for special services (e.g., Christmas and Easter) and events
throughout the year
Time commitment and wages:
● Approximately 3 hours on Sunday mornings
week, in consultation with the pastor, and leading the service with a volunteer praise

Paid time off: The worship leader will have one Sunday off every 6 weeks, for a total of

Education Coordinator Position
Progressive church seeks dynamic and experienced Children’s Education Coordinator for our children’s education department (PreK – 12th grade). This department has been closed since March 2020 due to the Pandemic. Family of Faith United Methodist Church, located near downtown Akron and the University of Akron, is a congregation that is experiencing increasing diversity in terms of race and sexual orientation. The Education Coordinator will be responsible for rebuilding and leading the Children/Youth education program. The program includes weekly Sunday School classes serving ages 3-12th grade as well as special events. Communication skills are vital for the success of this program.

Qualifications: A successful candidate must have a strong personal relationship with Christ and a commitment to Christian education. Knowledge of United Methodist traditions preferred but not required. The person will be a creative, enthusiastic team player who works well with others while demonstrating good oral and written skills. Individuals must present an ability to understand and maintain confidentiality of church members and families as needed.
Duties and responsibilities:
● Be sensitive to each child’s personality, home situation and individual needs
● Administer and maintain Family of Faith Safe Sanctuary policies
● Create master yearly schedule for Sunday School topics and special events
● Work with select church members to plan and execute special events such as Vacation Bible School, Trunk or Treat, Christmas program, Rally Day, etc.
● Create and implement weekly Sunday schedule
● Develop/select curriculum
● Prepare weekly lesson and activities for Sundays
● Primary teacher for school age classroom
● Communicate with parents and when appropriate, church membership via church newsletter, facebook page, etc
● Collaborate with pastor and/or appointed church members to recruit and manage volunteer teachers/ classroom assistants /helpers for special events
● Maintain office, storage room and classroom organization. Communicate with the custodian for cleanliness needs.
● Create and maintain relevant bulletin boards
● Purchase supplies
● Keep records of attendance
